<p>Saratoga Springs, NY – January 5, 2024 &#8211; The Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF) is delighted to announce the appointment of Maggie Sweet as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO).</p>

<p>Maggie brings a wealth of racing industry experience and a passion for equine welfare to her role as COO. She worked for Todd Pletcher Racing Stables for over 25 years, most recently as COO.  Maggie&#8217;s unwavering consistency and exceptional work ethic were the cornerstone of her remarkable 25-year journey with the company. She was the approachable go-to person for all employees, providing a sounding board and safe space for their concerns and questions. With a proven track record of strategic leadership and operational excellence, Maggie is poised to play a key role in advancing The TRF&#8217;s mission to provide lifelong sanctuary for retired Thoroughbred racehorses, ensuring they receive the care and attention they deserve after their racing careers have ended.</p>
<p>&#8220;We are thrilled to welcome Maggie Sweet to the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation as our new Chief Operating Officer,&#8221; said Patrick H. Mackay, Chairman of the Board of Directors at TRF. &#8220;Maggie&#8217;s desire to support equine welfare, coupled with her extensive leadership experience, will undoubtedly contribute to the continued success and growth of our organization. <p>About TRF: Founded in 1983, the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation is a national organization devoted to saving Thoroughbred horses no longer able to compete at the racetrack from possible neglect, abuse, and slaughter. As the oldest Thoroughbred rescue in the country, the TRF provides sanctuary to retired Thoroughbreds throughout their entire lifetime.</p>
<p>Best known for its pioneering Second Chances Program, the organization provides incarcerated individuals with life-changing vocational training through an accredited equine care and stable management program. At eight correctional facilities across the US, including one juvenile justice facility, this program offers second careers to its horses and a second chance at life for program graduates upon release from prison.</p>
