Our first farm opened in 1983 at a correctional facility in New York, where inmates participated in a nationally accredited TRF Second Chances vocational training program in equine care and stable management.
The TRF Second Chances program has since expanded to 9 states and provides an important "job" for horses whose racing-related injuries leave them unsuitable for a second career as a riding horse. The inmates learn marketable skills as well as invaluable lessons in compassion and responsibility. TRF also offers permanent retirement at 16 private farms around the country.

The boys at the TRF Second Chances Juvenile Program recently visited the World Equestrian Center (WEC). They had a great time during their visit and learned about the discipline of dressage.
